  1. Sian Bignell is the Respondent in Children Act 1989 proceedings brought by her former partner in respect of their son, now 3 years old. She is today represented by Counsel and has chosen not to give evidence.
  2. Ms Bignell admits that she has breached the order dated 25.2.13 in that she failed to make their son available for contact with his father on 19.3.13 and 26.3.13, and that she failed to attend court on 22.5.13.
  3. The order for contact made on 25.2.13 was made by consent at a hearing when Ms Bignell was represented by Counsel. The contact order was in accordance with recommendations made in a s37 report.
  4. Ms Bignell has a long history of breaching court orders and non attendance at court hearings. She accepts that she has been "burying her head in the sand" about the contact application orders and she asks for the court's forgiveness today. She consents to a further contact order being made today.
  5. I have already made one suspended order for committal, in order to try to achieve her attendance at court on 17.12.12. The mother attended court on that date.
  6. These breaches must be marked by a short sentence of imprisonment, 28 days concurrent on all matters is proportionate. It is also proportionate to suspend the order for 12 months on terms that she attends all listed court hearings relating to her son, and that she complies with the court order for contact dated 3.6.13 and any subsequent variation.
