THE TEACHERS' PENSION RULES, 1925.

THE TEACHERS' PENSION RULES, 1925.

Rules made by the Minister for Education with the consent of the Minister for Finance under Section 11 (Eleven) of the National School Teachers (Ireland) Act, 1879, in relation to the pensions of certain National School Teachers.

I, Eoin MacNeill, Minister for Education, in exercise of the power given to me by the National School Teachers (Ireland) Act, 1879, and of every power me thereunto enabling, do hereby make the following Rules :—

1. The Teachers' Pension Rules, 1924, shall apply to a teacher who before the 1st day of February, 1922, was dismissed or retired from a school situate in the area of jurisdiction of the Government of Northern Ireland and on or after that date enters the service under the jurisdiction of the Government of Saorstát Eireann as fully as the said Rules would apply to such teacher if he had been so dismissed or had so retired on or after the said date.

2. The Teachers' Pension Rules, 1924, shall apply to a teacher who before the 1st day of February, 1922, was dismissed or retired from a school situate in the area of jurisdiction of the Government of Saorstát Eireann and on or after that date enters the service under the jurisdiction of the Government of Northern Ireland as fully as the said Rules would apply to such teacher if he had been so dismissed or had so retired on or after the said date.

3. For the purpose of the application of the Teachers' Pension Rules, 1924, to a teacher pursuant to these Rules, the reference in Rule 3 of the said Rules of 1924 to the Ministry of Finance of Northern Ireland shall have effect as a reference to the Teachers' Pension Office and the said Ministry or that Office or the said Ministry as the case may require, and references in these Rules to the area of jurisdiction of a Government shall be construed as referring to such area as it exists at the date of the entry of the teacher into the service under the jurisdiction of the Government of Saorstát Eireann or of Northern Ireland, as the case may be.

4. These Rules shall be construed with the Teachers' Pension Rules, 1924.

5. These Rules shall have effect as from the 1st day of February, 1922.
