SCHEDULE OF STANDARD CHARGES.

Dated, 21st January, 1930.

IN THE COURT OF THE RAILWAY TRIBUNAL.

RAILWAYS ACT, 1924 .

WHEREAS pursuant to the provisions of Section 27 of the Railways Act, 1924 (hereinafter called "the said Act"), the Great Southern Railways Company have submitted to us, in the prescribed form, a Schedule of the Standard Charges proposed to be made by the said Great Southern Railways Company according to the classification fixed under the provisions of the said Act, showing in the said Schedule the rates for the conveyance of merchandise, the amounts of terminal charges, and the fares for the conveyance of passengers and their luggage.

AND WHEREAS we caused notice of the lodgment of the said Schedule to be duly published, and prescribed the time and the manner in which any objection thereto might be lodged.

AND WHEREAS we have considered the said Schedule and all objections lodged thereto, and have in open Court heard all parties interested and who desired to be heard.

AND WHEREAS we have adjusted the powers of charging to Revenue as required by Section 53 of the said Act.

NOW WE, THE RAILWAY TRIBUNAL, in pursuance of the powers vested in Us under the said Act, Do hereby settle the Schedule of Charges hereto annexed in accordance with the provisions of the said Act.

And We appoint the First day of July, 1930, as the day when the same shall come into operation.

SCHEDULE:


GENERAL PROVISIONS.

The Charges specified in this Schedule in respect of Merchandise shall be subject to the Classification of Merchandise for conveyance by Railway determined under Section 26 of the Railways Act, 1924 , and to the regulations and provisions set forth in such Classification and in this Schedule.

The Charges contained in this Schedule are the Standard Charges which the Railway Company are authorised to make in respect of the services and accommodation to which Standard Charges are applicable. Nothing contained in this Schedule precludes the Railway Company from making such other Charges as they are by law entitled to make.

The above charges apply irrespective of distance, and are over and above the rate charged for carriage.

INCREASED CHARGE FOR LIVE STOCK DECLARED TO BE OF HIGHER VALUE THAN THE RESPECTIVE SUMS NAMED IN THE STANDARD TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE OF LIVE STOCK.

1¼ per cent. of such declared value in excess of the sums hereinbefore referred to, as compensation for the greater risk incurred.

Fractions of less than one halfpenny in the charge to be dropped, and fractions of one halfpenny of over to be charged as one penny.


CHARGES IN RESPECT OF ENTRIES IN THE CLASSIFICATION OF GOODS BY MERCHANDISE TRAIN.

SECTION 1(A).—General

Regulation 2.

When a consignment upon which charges are paid by one Trader is split into different portions at destination, a charge of 1d. per portion for the service.

Regulation 7.

When by special arrangement or at the request or for the convenience of the Trader the Company supply a sheet or sheets or a covered van in lieu thereof for this traffic, a charge of 1s. 6d. per sheet or van exclusive of any demurrage which may be incurred.

Regulation 13.

When the Company undertakes to convey Wild Animals by Merchandise train, they will be accepted only at the sole risk and responsibility of the Owner, and charged as follows:—

When a vehicle is specially fitted up for the carriage of the animal or animals, the cost of the fitting is charged in addition.
