No. 52/1938:

CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 4, ELEVENTH PERIOD) ORDER, 1938.

CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 4, ELEVENTH PERIOD) ORDER, 1938.

WHEREAS it is enacted by subsection (2) of section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), (as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution), that so long as any particular quota order is in force the Government shall, during and not less than one month before the end of every quota period under such quota order, by order—

(a) appoint a period (beginning at the expiration of the said quota period) to be the next quota period under such quota order, and

(b) appoint a specified quantity of goods to which such quota order applies to be the quota for the purposes of the said Act in respect of the said next quota period :

AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 4, Tenth Period) Order, 1937 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 190 of 1937), the period beginning on the 1st day of October, 1937, and ending on the 31st day of March, 1938, was appointed to be the tenth quota period under the Control of Imports (Quota No. 4) Order, 1934 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 243 of 1934) :

AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 4) (Amendment) Order, 1935 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 19 of 1935), the said Control of Imports (Quota No. 4) Order, 1934, was amended by deleting clause (a) (which relates to infants' boots and shoes) of sub-paragraph (2) of paragraph 4 thereof :

AND WHEREAS by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 4) (Amendment No. 2) Order, 1936 (Statutory Rules and Orders, No. 13 of 1936), the said Control of Imports (Quota No. 4) Order, 1934, was further amended by excluding certain heeled rubber shoes from the operation of the last-mentioned Order :

NOW, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by subsection (2) of section 6 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), (as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution), and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 4, Eleventh Period) Order, 1938.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The period beginning on the 1st day of April, 1938, and ending on the 30th day of September, 1938, is hereby appointed to be the eleventh quota period under the Control of Imports (Quota No. 4) Order, 1934 (which relates to certain rubber boots and shoes).

4. A total amounting to one hundred thousand articles to which the Control of Imports (Quota No. 4) Order, 1934, applies shall be the quota in respect of the said eleventh quota period.
