| | The Commissioner of the Gárda Síochána, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 49 of the Dublin Carriage Act, 1853, as adapted by subsequent enactments, and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby makes the following bye-laws in respect of the Dublin Metropolitan Area :

| |
Short title. |
| | 1. These Bye-laws may be cited as the Dublin (Carriage Stands) Bye-laws, 1944.
|
| |
Interpretation. |
| | 2. The
Interpretation Act, 1937
(No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Bye-laws.
|
| |
Appointment of stations. |
| | 3. In the several public roads named in the Schedule to these bye-laws, the place or each of the places delimited in the third column of the said Schedule opposite the name in the said second column of any such public road is hereby appointed to be a station where licensed hackney carriages may stand for hire.

Maximum number of carriages at stations. |
| | 4. Whenever the number of licensed hackney carriages standing for hire at a station appointed by these bye-laws is equal to the number mentioned in the fourth column of the Schedule to these bye-laws opposite the mention of such station in the third column of the said Schedule, no other licensed hackney carriage shall stand for hire at such station.

Position of carriages at station. |
| | 5. Every licensed hackney carriage standing for hire at a station appointed by these bye-laws shall be placed in the position specified in the fifth column of the Schedule to these bye-laws opposite the mention of such station in the third column of the said Schedule.

Revocation. |
| | 6. Every appointment or alteration of stations where licensed hackney carriages may stand for hire which was made under section 49 of the Dublin Carriage Act, 1853, and was in force immediately before the making of these bye-laws, is hereby revoked.
