DEPARTMENTS AND MINISTERS (ALTERATION OF IRISH NAMES AND TITLES) ORDER, 1944.

DEPARTMENTS AND MINISTERS (ALTERATION OF IRISH NAMES AND TITLES) ORDER, 1944.

WHEREAS it is enacted by sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), that it shall be lawful for the Government, whenever they so think proper, to do by order all or any of certain things mentioned in that sub-section and, amongst others, to alter in such way as they think proper the name (whether in the Irish language or the English language or in both those languages) of any Department of State and to alter in such way as they think proper the title (whether in the Irish language or the English language or in both those languages) of any Minister having charge of a Department of State :

NOW, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1939 (No. 36 of 1939), and of every and any other power them in that behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Departments and Ministers (Alteration of Irish Names and Titles) Order, 1944.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1944.

2. The name in the Irish language of any Department of State, the present name whereof in the Irish language is set out in column (2) of the First Schedule hereto at any reference number, is hereby altered to that set out in column (3) of the said Schedule at the said reference number.

3. The title in the Irish language of any Minister having charge of a Department of State, the present title of whom in the Irish language is set out in column (2) of the Second Schedule hereto at any reference number, is hereby altered to that set out in column (3) of the said Schedule at the said reference number.
