S.I. No. 137/1951:

COINAGE (DIMENSIONS AND DESIGNS) REGULATIONS, 1951.

COINAGE (DIMENSIONS AND DESIGNS) REGULATIONS, 1951.

The Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by subsection (6) of section 5 of the Coinage Act, 1950 (No. 32 of 1950), hereby makes the following regulations :--

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Coinage (Dimensions and Designs) Regulations, 1951.

2. In these Regulations, " to be provided " means to be provided under section 5 of the Coinage Act, 1950 (No. 32 of 1950).

3. The diameter of the several denominations of the coins to be provided shall be as set forth in the First Schedule to these Regulations.

4. Every coin to be provided shall have for the obverse impression a harp, together with the inscription " Éire " and the date of the year, and the reverse impression of the several denominations of the coins to be provided shall be as set forth in the Second Schedule to these Regulations.

5. Both the obverse and the reverse impression of every coin to be provided shall include a beading round the field of the coin.

6. Every half-crown, florin and shilling to be provided shall have a graining upon the edge, and every sixpence, threepence, penny, halfpenny and farthing to be provided shall have a plain edge.
