S.I. No. 270/1951:

FOOD HYGIENE REGULATIONS, 1950 (COMMENCEMENT OF PART IV) ORDER, 1951.

FOOD HYGIENE REGULATIONS, 1950 (COMMENCEMENT OF PART IV) ORDER, 1951.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 35 of the Food Hygiene Regulations, 1950 ( S.I. No. 205 of 1950 ) after consultation with the Minister for Agriculture, hereby orders as follows :--

1. This Order may be cited as the Food Hygiene Regulations, 1950 (Commencement of Part IV) Order, 1951.

2. In this Order--

" hotel " means a premises

(a) which is registered in the register of hotels kept under Part III of the Tourist Traffic Act, 1939 (No. 24 of 1939) and

(b) in which there is accommodation for six or more guests ;

" premises " means a premises or part of a premises to which Part IV of the Regulations applies ;

" the Regulations " means the Food Hygiene Regulations, 1950 ( S.I. No. 205 of 1950 ) and

" restaurant " means a premises in which is carried on the business of selling meals to the public.

3. Part IV of the Regulations (with the exception of Article 38 thereof) shall come into operation throughout the State :--

(a) on the 1st day of October, 1951, as respects :

(i) hotels, holiday camps and restaurants and

(ii) premises in which is carried on the business of fishmonger or poulterer and

(b) on the 1st day of April, 1952, as respects :--

(i) premises in which ice cream is manufactured ;

(ii) premises in which is carried on the business of butcher or pork butcher ;

(iii) premises in which is carried on a food business consisting of the manufacture of food intended for sale for human consumption, and

(iv) premises in which is carried on a food business consisting of the preparation, exposure for sale or storage for sale by wholesale of food intended for sale for human consumption.

4. Article 38 of the Regulations shall come into operation throughout the State on the 1st day of October, 1952 as respects occasional food premises being premises of the classes specified in paragraph (a) of Article 3 of this Order and on the 1st day of April, 1953 as respects occasional food premises being premises of the classes specified in paragraph (b) of the said Article.
