BREAD (PRICES) ORDER, 1955 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956.

BREAD (PRICES) ORDER, 1955 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1956.

I, WILLIAM NORTON, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Bread (Regulation of Prices) Act, 1936 (No. 29 of 1936), hereby order as follows :--

1.--(1) This Order may be cited as the Bread (Prices) Order, 1955 (Amendment) Order, 1956.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 30th day of July, 1956.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The references in the Schedule to the Bread (Prices) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1955 ), to " 1 lb." and " multiples of 1 lb." shall be construed as referring to--

(a) if the bread leaves the bakery on the day on which it is baked, its weight on leaving the bakery, and

(b) if the bread does not leave the bakery on the day on which it is baked, its weight at the close of business at the bakery on the day on which it is baked.

4. Article 6 of the Bread (Prices) Order, 1955, is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to require references in the Schedule to the Bread (Prices) Order, 1955, to " 1 lb." and "multiples of 1 lb." to be construed as referring to the weight of bread on leaving the bakery on the day on which it is baked or, if it does not leave the bakery on that day, at the close of business at the bakery on the day on which it is baked.
