DUBLIN AND CORK TAXIMETER AREAS FARE ORDER, 1957. |

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 31 of the Emergency Powers Order, 1939 (S. R. & O. No. 224 of 1939), as amended by the Emergency Powers, (No. 173) Order, 1942 (S. R. & O. No. 166 of 1942) (which Orders are continued in force by the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1946 (No. 22 of 1946)), hereby order as follows :-- |

1. This Order may be cited as the Dublin and Cork Taximeter Areas Fare Order, 1957. |
||
2. This Order shall come into operation on the 9th day of May, 1957. |
||
3. This Order applies to the areas to which the following bye-laws relate : |
||
(a) the Dublin Taximeter Area Fare Bye-laws, 1955 ( S.I. No. 132 of 1955 ). |
||
(b) the Cork Taximeter Area Fare Bye-Laws, 1955 ( S.I. No. 133 of 1955 ), |
||
4. The fare which may lawfully be charged for the hire of a street service vehicle hired in an area to which this Order applies shall be in accordance with the relevant bye-laws, with an addition of ten per cent. of the charge calculated by distance or time, any fraction of a penny in the result being taken as a penny. |

5. The owner of every such vehicle shall cause a printed notice in the form of the Schedule to this Order to be exhibited in the vehicle in the same manner as the notice prescribed by the relevant bye-laws. |

Note as to increase of time and distance charges. |
||
By the Dublin and Cork Taximeter Areas Fare Order, 1957, the time and distance charges have been increased. The proper fare for those charges is that recorded on the taximeter, increased by one-tenth, any fraction of a penny being taken as a penny. The minimum fare is two shillings and threepence. The extra payments for additional passengers and luggage have not been changed. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This instrument provides that the fare which may lawfully be charged for the hire of a street service vehicle hired in the Dublin and Cork taximeter areas shall be in accordance with the relevant bye-laws, with an addition of ten per cent. of the charge recorded on the taximeter, any fraction of a penny being taken as a penny. The minimum fare is two shillings and threepence. No change has been made in the existing charges for additional passengers and luggage. |
