CARRIAGE OF WHEAT ORDER, 1958.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on me by subsection (3) of section 2 of the Transport (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1955 (No. 21 of 1955), as amended by subsection (1) of section 23 of the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 24 of 1958), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Carriage of Wheat Order, 1958.

2. During the period commencing on the 1st day of September, 1958, and ending on the 31st day of August, 1959, section 9 of the Road Transport Act, 1933 (No. 8 of 1933) (which restricts the carriage of merchandise by unlicensed persons) shall not apply to the carriage of wheat by a person authorised under the Wheat Order, 1958 ( S.I. No. 162 of 1958 ), to act as the agent of the licensee of a mill where the wheat was purchased by the agent for the licensee or for An Bord Grain and is carried in a vehicle owned by the agent.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the Instrument is that licensed agents of licensed mills may as heretofore use their own vehicles for the transport of wheat purchased by them for licensed mills during the period 1st September, 1958, to 31st August, 1959, although not licensed under the Road Transport Act, 1933 , for the purpose and they may also carry in their own vehicles wheat purchased for An Bord Gráin.
