BYE-LAW No. 498. OYSTER FISHERIES.

CLEW BAY.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Lands, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the Fisheries Acts, 1842 to 1958, and the Fisheries (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1957 ( S.I. No. 67 of 1957 ), hereby make the following Bye-Law :--

(1) This Bye-Law may be cited as the Clew Bay Oyster Bye-Law No. 498, 1958.

(2) This Bye-Law shall come into operation on the 15th day of December, 1958.

(3) The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Bye-Law.

(4) It shall not be lawful during the period from the 15th day of December, 1958, to the 30th day of September, 1961, to dredge for, take, catch or destroy any Oyster or Oyster Brood in that part of Clew Bay enclosed by the Islands of Quinsheen, Collan More and Clynish and straight lines drawn from the eastern extremity of Quinsheen to the western extremity of Clynish, from the eastern extremity of Clynish southwards to the north-eastern extremity of Collan More, and from the western extremity of Collan More northwards to the eastern extremity of Quinsheen.

(5) Each and every person offending against this Bye-Law shall forfeit and pay for each offence a sum not exceeding Five Pounds, and any Oyster or Oyster Brood taken in contravention thereof shall, as a statutory consequence of conviction, stand forfeited.
