FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (IMPORTATION OF PLANTS) ORDER, 1962. |

I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 4 of the Agriculture Act, 1931 (No. 8 of 1931), and section 49 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, hereby order as follows : |
||
1.--(1) This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Importation of Plants) Order, 1962. |
||
(2) The Foot and Mouth Disease (Importation of Plants) Order, 1952 ( S.I. No. 134 of 1952 ), and this Order may be cited together as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Importation of Plants) Orders, 1952 and 1962. |
||
(3) This Order shall come into operation in the 1st day of February, 1962. |
||
2. The Foot and Mouth Disease (Importation of Plants) Order, 1952, shall have effect subject to the insertion of " but does not include dried canes without roots, bamboo tapers, raffia, whisk tops, dried teazles, dried seagrass, willow sticks, golden rushes, broom corn, or timber without roots attached " after " and plants " in Article 3. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of this Order is to exclude the items enumerated in paragraph 2 from the definition of the word " plants " in the Foot and Mouth Disease (Importation of Plants) Order, 1952 and to make it unnecessary to apply for a licence under that Order for the importation of these products. |
