|
The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 4 of the Cork City Management (Amendment) Act, 1941 , (No. 5 of 1941) as substituted by section 87 of the Electoral Act, 1963 (No. 19 of 1963), hereby orders as follows:--
|
|
|
1. This Order may be cited as the Cork County Borough Electoral Areas Order, 1965.
|
|
|
2. In this Order " the Borough " means the county borough of Cork.
|
|
|
3. The Borough shall be divided into the electoral areas set out in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.
|
|
|
4. (1) Each such electoral area shall consist of the area described in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.
|
|
|
(2) In the Schedule to this Order--
|
|
|
(a) a reference to a line drawn along any bridge, fence, railway, river, street, road, avenue, drive, lane, terrace, quay or walk, shall be construed as a reference to a line drawn along the centre of such bridge, fence, railway, river, street, road, avenue, drive, lane, terrace, quay or walk;
|
|
|
(b) the expression " fence " shall include " wall ";
|
|
|
(c) a reference to the point at which any such bridge, fence, railway, river, street, road, avenue, drive, lane, quay, terrace or walk is said to be intersected by or to join any bridge, fence, railway, river, street, road, avenue, drive, lane, terrace, quay or walk shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of the one would be cut by a line drawn along the centre of the other;

|
(d) the expression " the Borough boundary " means the boundary of the county borough of Cork at the date of this Order, and the expression " the former Borough boundary " means the boundary of the said county borough immediately before the passing of the Local Government Provisional Order Confirmation Act, 1965 (No. 1 (Private) of 1965);
|
|
|
(e) the expression " Valuation Map " means the map prepared by the Commissioner of Valuation in connection with the 1965 annual revision of valuations.
|
|
|
5. The number of members of the Council of the Borough to be elected for each such electoral area shall be the number set out in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.
|
|
|
6. The number of the said members to be elected for each such electoral area who are to be aldermen shall be the number set out in the fourth column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such electoral area.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
