CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT (SUGAR AND CHOCOLATE CONFECTIONERY INDUSTRY) (EXCLUSION) REGULATIONS, 1968. |

I, P. S. Ó h-IRIGHILE, Minister for Labour, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 29 and 52 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936), and the Labour (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 164 of 1966 ), and after consultation with representatives of employers interested in the form of industrial work hereinafter specified, and with representatives of workers so interested, hereby make the following regulations : |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Conditions of Employment (Sugar and Chocolate Confectionery Industry) (Exclusion) Regulations, 1968. |
||
2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations. |
||
3. The following form of industrial work, namely, the manufacture of sugar and chocolate confectionery and ancillary operations at the premises of Clarnico-Murray Limited at Terenure in the city of Dublin, is hereby declared to be excluded industrial work for the purpose of sections 38 and 46 of the Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 (No. 2 of 1936). |

4. The following provisions shall have effect in respect of the work to which these Regulations relate : -- |
||
subject to section 41 of the said Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 , it shall not be lawful for any employer who employs any worker to work on the said form of industrial work to permit such worker : -- |
||
(a) being a woman to commence work earlier than the hour of 7.30 a.m. on any day, |
||
(b) to continue work after the hour of 8 p.m. on any ordinary working day or after the hour of 1 p.m. on any short day, |
||
(c) to continue work after the time in any ordinary day when such worker has completed nine hours work, |
||
(d) to continue work after the time in any week when such worker has completed forty-eight hours work in that week, |
||
(e) being a woman to be so employed on any day until after the expiration of eleven hours from the time at which she ceased to do such work on the previous day. |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The Conditions of Employment Act, 1936 , provides that female adult workers shall not be employed on day work between the hours of 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. The purpose of these Regulations is to permit female adult workers to be employed between the hours of 7.30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on day work in the manufacture of Sugar and Chocolate Confectionery and ancillary operations at the premises of Clarnico Murray Ltd, Terenure. |
