CUSTOMS-FREE AIRPORT (EXTENSION OF LAWS) REGULATIONS, 1969.

I, ERSKINE H. CHILDERS, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 13 of the Customs-free Airport Act, 1947 (No. 5 of 1947) (as amended by section 11 of the Customs-free Airport (Amendment) Act, 1958 (No. 29 of 1958)) and the Transport, Fuel and Power (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1959 ( S.I. No. 125 of 1959 ), with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Customs-free Airport (Extension of Laws) Regulations, 1969.

2. The Exchange Control Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 253 of 1968 ), shall extend to the Custom-free Airport.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations extend to the Customs-free Airport the Exchange Control Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 253 of 1968 ).

The Exchange Control Regulations, 1968 amend the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 by appointing the following to be authorised dealers for the purposes of the Exchange Control Acts :-- Bank of America National Trust and Savings Association; Chase and Bank of Ireland (International), Limited; Allied Irish Investment Bank Limited (formerly Allied Irish Investment Corporation Limited) and the American Express International Banking Corporation (formerly the American Express Company Incorporated).

The Exchange Control Regulations, 1968 also amend the list of Scheduled Territories in the Exchange Control Regulations, 1959 by the addition of Mauritius, Swaziland and the People's Republic of Southern Yemen. These territories, which are now independent, had been included in the general heads for British territories.
