The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947) and subsection (5) of section 50 of the Health Act, 1953 (No. 26 of 1953), hereby makes the following Regulations :-- |

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations, 1972. |
||
2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of August, 1972. |
||
3. Article 4 of the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) Regulations, 1963 ( S.I. No. 142 of 1963 ) ]as substituted by Article 4 of the Disabled Persons (Maintenance Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 188 of 1967 )] is hereby amended by the substitution for sub-article (4) thereof of the following sub-article :-- |

" (4) A maintenance allowance payable in accordance with this article shall be at a rate not exceeding four pounds and ninety new pence per week in the case of a person who has no means and in all other cases at a rate not exceeding four pounds and sixty-five new pence per week." |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
The effect of these Regulations is to increase as from 1st August, 1972, the maximum weekly rate of maintenance allowance payable under section 50 (5) of the Health Act, 1953 from four pounds and forty new pence to four pounds and ninety new pence in the case of a person who has no means and in all other cases from four pounds and fifteen new pence to four pounds and sixty-five new pence. |
