I, JOHN FAHEY, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Agricultural Products (Regulation of Import) Act, 1938 (No. 14 of 1938), and the Fisheries (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 83 of 1965 ) (as adapted by the Agriculture (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1965 )), and the Fisheries (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 123 of 1970 ), hereby, after consultation with the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Industry and Commerce, order as follows: |

1. This Order may be cited as the Fish (Regulation of Import) Order, 1973. |
||
2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1973. |
||
3. Article 2 of the Fish (Regulation of Import) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 148 of 1966 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for the definition of "fish" of the following definition-- |
||
" 'fish' means trout or carp imported from any country other than a member of the European Economic Community, whether such fish is fresh (live or dead), chilled or frozen, and includes fillets and parts of such fish". |

EXPLANATORY NOTE. |
||
This Order removes the quantitative restrictions on the import of fish other than trout and carp imported from any country not a member of the European Economic Community. |
