SOCIAL WELFARE (SUBSIDIARY EMPLOYMENTS) REGULATIONS, 1974.

SOCIAL WELFARE (SUBSIDIARY EMPLOYMENTS) REGULATIONS, 1974.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of and paragraph 5 of Part II of the First Schedule to the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) hereby makes the following Regulations :--

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1974.

(2) These Regulations shall be construed as one with the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1953 to 1972 and may be collectively cited therewith as the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1953 to 1974.

2. The employment set forth in the Schedule hereto is hereby specified as being of such a nature that it is ordinarily adopted as subsidiary employment only and not as the principal means of livelihood and the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 18 of 1953 ) shall be amended by the addition thereto of the paragraph in the Schedule hereto.

3. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1975.

SCHEDULE.

46. Employment involving less than eighteen hours service in a contribution week as home help in pursuance of an arrangement made by a health board under section 61 of the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Employment for less than 18 hours a week as home help in a scheme arranged under Section 61 of the Health Act, 1970 is by these Regulations classified as a subsidiary employment for the purposes of the Social Welfare Acts. Such employment is consequently not insurable under those Acts except for occupational injuries benefit.
