S.I. No. 87/1983:

WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY (EXPERIMENTER'S LICENCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1983.

WIRELESS TELEGRAPHY (EXPERIMENTER'S LICENCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1983.

I, JIM MITCHELL, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 6 (1) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1926 (No. 45 of 1926), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983.

(2) The Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1982, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937 to 1983.

(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1983.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. Regulation 11 of the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) Regulations, 1937, as amended by Regulation 3 of the Wireless Telegraphy (Experimenter's Licence) (Amendment) Regulation, 1982 ( S.I. No. 74 of 1982 ), is hereby amended by--

( a ) the substitution in paragraph (1) of "six pounds and fifty new pence" and "five pounds" for "five pounds and fifty new pence", and "four pounds and fifty new pence", respectively and,

( b ) the substitution of "two pounds and fifty new pence" for "two pounds" in paragraph (2)

and the said paragraphs (1) and (2), as so amended, are set out in paragraphs 1 and 2, respectively, of the Table to this Regulation.

TABLE.

1. A fee of six pounds and fifty new pence shall be payable on the issue of an experimenter's licence and a fee of five pounds shall be payable on every renewal thereof.

2. Where an applicant for an experimenter's licence submits himself at the request of the Minister to a test of his operating speed held by or on behalf of the Minister, a fee of two pounds and fifty new pence shall be paid by such an applicant at or before the commencement of such test.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for increases in the licence fees and in the examination fee for the Experimenter's licence.
