COINAGE (CALLING IN) ORDER, 1986.

COINAGE (CALLING IN) ORDER, 1986.

I, JOHN BRUTON, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 12 of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), hereby make the following order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Coinage (Calling In) Order, 1986.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of January 1987.

3. Coins of the denomination of halfpenny are hereby called in.

GIVEN under my official Seal this 23rd day of May, 1986.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the removal of the ½p coin from circulation.

The Order shall become operative on 1 January 1987 unless annulled by Resolution of either House of the Oireachtas before that date.
