HEALTH CONTRIBUTIONS (RATE) REGULATIONS, 1987.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sub-section (2) of section 9 of the Health Contributions Act, 1979 (No. 4 of 1979) hereby makes the following Regulations as respects which, pursuant to sub-section (5) of the said section, a draft has been approved by a resolution of each House of the Oireachtas.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Health Contributions (Rate) Regulations, 1987.

2. The rate specified in sections 5 (1) (a), 6 (1) and 7 of the Health Contributions Act, 1979 , is hereby varied with effect from the 6th day of April, 1987, to 1.25%.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 9 (2) of the Health Contributions Act, 1979 , provides that the Minister for Health may by regulation vary the rate specified in sections 5 (1) (a), 6 (1) and 7 of the Act. The present rate is 1% and it is now varied by these regulations to 1.25%. The changed rate is operative from the beginning of the contribution year commencing on 6th April, 1987.
