CHILD CARE ACT, 1991 (COMMENCEMENT) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1992.

CHILD CARE ACT, 1991 (COMMENCEMENT) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1992.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 (2) of the Child Care Act, 1991 (No. 17 of 1991), hereby orders as follows:--

1. This Order may be cited as the Child Care Act, 1991 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 1992.

2. Section 5, subsections (1), (2) and (5) of section 6, and sections 11 , 69 , 72 and 73 of the Child Care Act, 1991 shall come into operation on the 1st day of October 1992.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to bring sections 5 , 6 , sections 11 , 69 , 72 and 73 of the Child Care Act, 1991 into operation.

Section 5 imposes a statutory duty on the health boards to provide accommodation for homeless children.

Section 6 requires each health board to provide or ensure the provision of an adoption service in its area.

Section 11 empowers the Minister for Health and the health boards to conduct or commission research into child care related matters.

Section 69 specifies the powers of the Minister for Health in relation to the administration of the Act.

Section 72 specifies the functions of the chief executive officer of a health board.

Section 73 provides for the payment out of public moneys of expenses incurred in the administration of the Act.
