AMALGAMATION OF MARRIAGE REGISTRARS' DISTRICTS ORDER, 1992.

An tArd-Chláraitheoir, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 8 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863, hereby orders as follows:--
|
|
|
1. This Order may be cited as the Amalgamation of Marriage Registrars' Districts Order, 1992.
|
|
|
2. For the purposes of Section 57 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844, as amended by Section 8 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863:--
|
|
|
( a ) there shall be detached from the existing district of Limerick that part of the said district which consists of the district electoral divisions of Ardskeagh, Charleville, Milltown and Springfort and there shall be added to the district of Cork the said district electoral divisions and the same shall be, and become part of the said district of Cork;
|
|
|
( b ) the existing district of Bantry shall be added to, be and become part of the district of Cork;
|
|
|
( c ) the existing district of Croom shall be added to, be and become part of the district of Limerick, and
|
|
|
( d ) the district of Limerick incorporating the amendments and alterations hereinbefore set forth shall henceforth bear the style of and be called the district of Clare and Limerick.
|
|
|
3. This order shall come into operation on the 15th day of December, 1992.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.
|
|
|
This Order changes the boundaries of districts of civil registrars of marriage. Cork district now includes all of the former Bantry district and part of what was previously called Limerick district, this latter district (re-named Clare and Limerick district) is enlarged by amalgamation with the former Croom district.
