TRANSIT OF ANIMALS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1994.

I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 , 11 , 28 and 29 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1993 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1993 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Transit of Animals (Amendment) Order, 1994, and shall come into operation on the 29th day of July, 1994.

(2) The Principal Order and this Order may be cited together as the Transit of Animals (General) Orders, 1973 and 1994.

(3) The Transit of Animals Orders, 1927 to 1973 and this Order may be cited together as the Transit of Animals Orders, 1927 to 1994.

2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the Transit of Animals (General) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 292 of 1973 ).

3. The Principal Order is hereby amended by the deletion from the Schedule thereto of "Transit of Greyhounds Order, 1954 ( S.I. No. 121 of 1954 ).".

4. The Transit of Greyhounds Order, 1954 ( S.I. No. 121 of 1954 ), is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This instrument extends the provisions of the Transit of Animals (General) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 292 of 1973 ) to the transport of greyhounds and revokes the Transit of Greyhounds Order, 1954 ( S.I. No. 121 of 1954 .).
