COUNTY OF FINGAL LOCAL ELECTORAL AREAS ORDER, 1998

The Minister for the Environment and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 24 of the Local Government Act, 1994 (No. 8 of 1994), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the County of Fingal Local Electoral Areas Order, 1998.

2. (1) The County of Fingal shall be divided into the local electoral areas which are named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Each such local electoral area shall consist of the area set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such local electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the council of the County of Fingal to be elected for each such local electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of that local electoral area.

3. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to an electoral division or townland shall be construed as referring to such electoral division or townland existing at the date of this Order.

4. (1) A reference in the Schedule to this Order to a line drawn along any road or laneway shall be construed as a reference to an imaginary line drawn along the centre of such road or laneway.

(2) A reference in the Schedule to this Order to the point at which any road or laneway intersects or join any other road, laneway or boundary shall be construed as a reference to the point at which an imaginary line drawn along the centre of a road or laneway or, in the case of a boundary along the boundary, would be intersected or joined by an imaginary line drawn along the centre of the other, or in the case of a boundary, along the boundary.

(3) A reference in the Schedule to this Order to a line drawn along a road which consists of a dual carriageway shall be construed as an imaginary line drawn along the central median of such dual carriageway.

5. Those parts of the Dublin Electoral Counties Order, 1985 ( S.I. No. 133 of 1985 ), not previously revoked, are hereby revoked.

The electoral divisions of Balbriggan Rural, Balbriggan Urban, Ballyboghil, Balscadden, Clonmethan, Garristown, Hollywood, Holmpatrick, Rush and Skerries

and that part of the electoral division of Lusk situated west and north of a line drawn as follows:

commencing at the junction of the western boundary of the electoral division with county road number LP 01100 (Roscall Road) and proceeding in a northerly direction along the said road to its junction with county road number LP 01095 (Ballough/Devine's Cross Road), thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along the said road to its junction with the Dublin - Belfast Road (N1), thence in a north-westerly direction along the said road to its junction with the northern boundary of the electoral division.

Castleknock

The electoral dvisions of Blanchardstown-Abbotstown, Blanchardstown-Delwood, Blanchardstown-Roselawn, Castleknock-Knockmaroon, Castleknock-Park and Lucan North,

that part of the electoral division of Blanchardstown-Blakestown situated south of a line drawn along Clonsilla Road (R121)

and that part of the electoral division of Blanchardstown-Coolmine situated east of a line drawn along Blanchardstown Road South.

Howth

The electoral divisions of Baldoyle, Howth and Sutton.

Malahide

The electoral divisions of Balgriffin, Kinsaley, Malahide East, Malahide West, Portmarnock North and Portmarnock South

and that part of the electoral division of Swords-Seatown situated east of a line drawn as follows:

commencing at the junction of the northern boundary of the electoral division with the eastern boundary of the townland of Seatown East, thence in a southerly direction along eastern boundary of the said townland to its junction with the northern boundary of the townland of Drinan, thence commencing in a westerly direction and proceeding along the northern boundary of the said townland to its intersection by the Swords - Malahide Road, thence in an easterly direction along the Swords - Malahide Road to its junction with an unnamed laneway immediately east of the last-mentioned intersection, thence in a southerly direction along the said laneway and its imaginary southerly projection to its intersection by the southern boundary of the electoral division.

Mulhuddart

The electoral divisions of Blanchardstown-Corduff, Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart, Blanchardstown-Tyrrelstown and The Ward,

and those parts of the electoral divisions of Blanchardstown-Coolmine not contained in the electoral area of Castleknock.

Swords

The electoral divisions of Airport, Donabate, Dubber, Kilsallaghan, Swords-Forrest,

that part of the electoral division of Lusk not contained in the electoral area of Balbriggan

and that part of the electoral division of Swords-Seatown not contained in the electoral area of Malahide.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amend the division of County Fingal into county electoral areas and to fix the number of members to be elected for each electoral area.
