AIRPORT (AMENDMENT) BYE-LAWS, 1999.

AER RIANTA cpt, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Sections 16 and 17 (as amended by the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1988 (No. 15 of 1988) ), of the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 1950 (No. 4 of 1950) and of Section 42 of the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment), Act, 1998 (No. 24 of 1998) , hereby makes the following Bye-Laws:

Citation.

1. These Bye-Laws may be cited as the Airport (Amendment) Bye-Laws, 1999. These Bye-Laws, together with the Airport Bye-Laws, 1994, shall, subject to the provisions hereof, be construed together as one and may be cited together as the Airport Bye-Laws, 1994 to 1999.

Application.

2. These Bye-Laws shall apply to the State Airports known as Cork Airport, Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport.

Amendment.

3. There is hereby inserted after Bye-Law 11 of the Airport Bye-Laws, 1994 ( S.I. No. 425 of 1994 ), a new Bye-Law as follows:

11A Persons with Disability

Service providers and others conducting business at the State airports (within the meaning of Section 2(1) of the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act, 1998 ) shall do all that is reasonable to accommodate the needs of persons with a disability by providing special treatment of facilities if, without such special treatment or facilities, it would be impossible or unduly difficult for those persons to avail themselves of the service or business.”

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

These Bye-Laws insert a new Bye-Law (11A) into the Airport Bye-Laws 1994 requiring service providers and others conducting business at Cork Airport, Dublin Airport and Shannon Airport to do all that is reasonably necessary to accommodate the needs of persons with a disability by providing certain treatment or facilities.
