Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (Amendment) Regulations, 2002


I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on my by sections 17 and 18 of No. 43 of 1998 ) and after consultation with the Minister for the Environment and Local Government and the Minister for Transport, hereby make the following regulations:

1.         These Regulations may be cited as the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (Amendment) Regulations 2002.

2.         The Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations 2001 ( S.I. No. 492 of 2001 ) are amended by substituting “Minister for Transport” for “Minister for the Environment and Local Government”, in each place where it occurs in those Regulations.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

The purpose of these Regulations is to amend the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations, 2001 by substituting ‘Minister for Transport’ for ‘Minister for the Environment and Local Government’ in each place where it occurs.

Following the transfer of responsibility for road traffic legislation, including roadworthiness testing of vehicles, from the Department of the Environment and Local Government to the Department of Transport, the functions conferred on the Minister for the Environment and Local Government are now vested in the Minister for Transport.
