FOREIGN POST AMENDMENT (NO. 37) SCHEME 2002

An Post, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 ( No. 24 of 1983 as amended by Regulation 4(1) of the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000, and with the concurrence of the Commission for Communications Regulation to the increases in charges herein made, hereby makes the following Scheme:

1.   This Scheme may be cited as the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 37) Scheme, 2002.

2.   This Scheme shall operate on and from the 6th day of January 2003.

3.   In this Scheme-

“the Principal Warrant” means the Foreign Post Warrant 1949 (S.I. 267 of 1949); and

“Scheme No. 35” means the Foreign Post Amendment (No. 35) Scheme, 2002 (S.I. 615 of 2002).

4.   The entries in the Schedule to this Scheme are hereby substituted for the entries in the First Schedule (as amended in particular by Scheme No. 35) to the Principal Warrant. The rates and charges specified in the Schedule to this Scheme pertain to letters and postal packets within the “reserved area” as defined by the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000 (S.I. 310 of 2000).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Scheme applies to the Foreign Post Service and comes into operation on the 6 th day of January 2003. It reflects increases in the tariffs on letters and postal packets within the “reserved area” as defined by the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2000 (S.I. 310 of 2000) as amended by S.I. 615 of 2002.

* Where a letter falls within more than one of 1(1), 1(2), 1(3) above, the category giving the lowest rate of postage shall prevail.

* Where a letter falls within more than one of 1(1), 1(2), 1(3) above, the category giving the lowest rate of postage shall prevail.

* Where a letter falls within more than one of 1(1), 1(2), 1(3) above, the category giving the lowest rate of postage shall prevail.

* Where a letter falls within more than one of 3(1) 3(2), 3(3) above, the category giving the lowest rate of postage shall prevail.
