Abattoirs Act 1988 (Veterinary Examination) (Amendment) Regulations 2003

I Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 39 and 63 of the Abattoirs Act, 1988 (No. 8 of 1988) hereby make the following Regulations:-

1. (1)   These Regulations may be cited as the Abattoirs Act, 1988 (Veterinary Examination) (Amendment) Regulations, 2003.

 (2)    The Abattoirs Act, 1988 (Veterinary Examination) Regulations, 1992 to 2003 shall be construed together as one.

2.         The Abattoirs Act, 1988 (Veterinary Examination) Regulations, 1992 to 2003 in relation to bovine animals presented for slaughter or slaughtered in abattoirs in the counties of Galway, Kerry, Limerick and Mayo may be disapplied in respect of the following provisions:-

Regulation 6 (2) (b) and (3) (a) (iii),

Regulation 9 (2),

First Schedule, Part II, paragraph (m), and

Second Schedule, Part II, paragraph (z).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

These Regulations provide that certain procedures in relation to the ante-mortem and post-mortem veterinary examination of bovine animals may be disapplied in abattoirs in specified counties.
