Freedom of Information Act 1997 (Prescribed Bodies) Regulations 2006

I, Brian Cowen, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Freedom of Information Act 1997 (No. 13 of 1997) and to the extent that the following Regulations relate to the respective functions of the Taoiseach, the Minister for Agriculture and Food, the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, the Minister for Defence, the Minister for Education and Science, the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Minister for Health and Children, the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, the Minister for Social and Family Affairs, and the Minister for Transport, with the consent of the Taoiseach and those other Ministers, hereby make the following regulations with respect to which, pursuant to section 3 (3) of that Act, a draft has been laid before each House of the Oireachtas and a resolution approving of the draft has been passed by each such House:

1.   These Regulations may be cited as the Freedom of Information Act 1997 (Prescribed Bodies) Regulations 2006.

2.   These Regulations come into operation with effect from 31 May, 2006.

3.   The bodies, organisations and groups specified in the Schedule to these Regulations stand prescribed for the purposes of paragraph 1(5) of the First Schedule to the Freedom of Information Act 1997 (No. 13 of 1997).

The Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for Defence consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for Education and Science consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for the Foreign Affairs consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for the Health and Children consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

The Minister for Transport consents to the making of these Regulations to the extent that they relate to the functions of that Minister.

These Regulations prescribe each of the bodies listed in the schedule as a public body for the purposes of the Freedom of Information Act 1997 (No. 13 of 1997) by their inclusion in subparagraph (5) of paragraph 1 of the First Schedule to that Act.
