PUBLIC HEALTH (TOBACCO) (AMENDMENT) ACT 2004 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2008

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 21st October, 2008.

I, MARY HARNEY, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 20(2) of the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Act 2004 (No. 6 of 2004), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Act 2004 (Commencement) Order 2008.

2. The 1st day of July 2009 is appointed as the day on which the following sections of the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Act 2004 (No. 6 of 2004) come into operation-

(a) section 5,

(b) section 6,

(c) section 7,

(d) section 8,

(e) section 9 (in so far as it relates to subsections (2), (4), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10) and (11) of section 38 of the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2002 (No. 6 of 2002)),

(f) section 10,

(g) section 13, and

(h) section 14.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order may be cited as Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Act 2004 (Commencement) Order 2008.

This Order commences sections 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 (in so far as it relates to subsections (2), (4), (6), (7), (8), (9), (10) and (11) of section 38 of the Public Health (Tobacco) Act 2002 (No. 6 of 2002)), 10, 13 and 14 of the Public Health (Tobacco) (Amendment) Act 2004 (No. 6 of 2004) with effect from 1 July 2009.
