SOCIAL WELFARE AND PENSIONS ACT 2010 (SECTIONS 15 TO 26) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2010

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 14th January, 2011.

I, ÉAMON Ó CUÍV, Minister for Social Protection, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (4) of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2010 (No. 37 of 2010), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2010 (Sections 15 to 26) (Commencement) Order 2010.

2. The 1st day of January 2011 is appointed as the day on which sections 15 to 26 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2010 (No. 37 of 2010) come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

This Order provides for the commencement of sections 15 to 26 of the Social Welfare and Pensions Act 2010 , which make a range of amendments to the social welfare code as a consequence of the provisions contained in the Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act 2010 .

This Order provides that these amendments come into effect on 1 January 2011.
