S.I. No. 47/2011 - Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2011.

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 8th February, 2011.

I, BRIAN COWEN, Taoiseach and Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the section 28 of the Passports Act 2008 (No. 4 of 2008), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2011.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on 11 April 2011.

2. The Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations 2001 ( S.I. No. 117 of 2001 ) (as amended by the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2010 ( S.I. No. 365 of 2010 ) are amended by the substitution of the Schedule set out in the Schedule to these Regulations for Part 1 of the Second Schedule.

For the issue of an emergency passport to a person aged 18 years or over by the relevant Passport Office, diplomatic mission or consular post outside its normal hours of opening. (This fee is charged for any attendance on weekends and public holidays) In addition, the applicable fee specified at reference number 1, 2, 5, 6, 9 or 10 in this Part for the subsequent issue of a passport shall be payable. The fee specified at reference number 12 in the First Schedule to the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2001 (as amended by the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2004) shall not be charged for the issue of a passport in these circumstances

For the issue of an emergency passport to a person under 18 years of age by the relevant Passport Office, diplomatic mission or consular post outside its normal hours of opening. (This fee is charged for any attendance on weekends and public holidays) In addition, the applicable fee specified at reference number 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 or 12 in this Part for the subsequent issue of a passport shall be payable. The fee specified at reference number 12 in the First Schedule to the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations 2004 shall not be charged for the issue of a passport in these circumstances

For the issue of a passport to a person aged 18 years or over by the relevant Passport Office, diplomatic mission or consular post during normal hours of opening on the same day that the application was submitted or within five days after the application was submitted. In addition, the applicable fee specified at reference number 1,2, 5, 6 9 or 10 in this Part shall be payable

For the issue of a passport to a person under 18 years of age by the relevant Passport Office, diplomatic mission or consular post during normal hours of opening on the same day that the application was submitted or within five days after the application was submitted. In addition, the applicable fee specified at reference number 3, 4, 7, 8, 11 or 12 in this Part shall be payable

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

The purpose of these Regulations is to amend the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations 2001, as amended, to provide for the re-introduction of passport fees for over 65s and the increase of new administration fees in respect of applications not submitted through a diplomatic mission or consular post or through a special arrangement for the express processing of passport applications entered into between the Minister and providers of postal services.
