Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

"Iris Oifigiúil" of 3rd June, 2011.

I, JAMES REILLY, Minister for Health and Children, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005), hereby make the following order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (Commencement) (No.2) Order 2011.

2. The 31st day of May 2011 is appointed as the day on which-

(a) section 27(3)(b),

(b) Part 4,

(c) Part 5,

(d) Part 7 (other than sections 79(4)(5) and 80(1)(a)),

(e) Part 9 (other than subsections (2),(3),(4) and (5) of section 91),

(f) section 94, and

(g) Schedule 3,

of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 (No. 27 of 2005) come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

This Order commences certain provisions of the Health and Social Care Professionals Act 2005 with effect from 31 May 2011 for the purpose of providing registration boards with the basis to carry out their functions, including the approval of education and training programmes and the establishment and maintenance of registers.
