I, ALAN SHATTER, Minister for Justice and Equality, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (10) of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 (No. 23 of 2011), hereby order as follows: |
||
1. This Order may be cited as the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 (Commencement) Order 2011. |
||
2. The 10th day of October 2011 is appointed as the day on which section 30(g) of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 shall come into operation. |
||

EXPLANATORY NOTE |
||

||
This Order appoints 10 October, 2011 as the date on which the provisions of section 30 (g) of the Civil Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2011 come into operation. |
||
Section 30(g) amends section 85 of the Bankruptcy Act 1988 to provide, subject to conditions, for the reduction of the application period to the court for discharge from bankruptcy from 12 years to 5 years and to provide for the automatic discharge of bankruptcies on the 12th anniversary of the adjudication order. |
