S.I. No. 150/2019 - Communications Regulation (Universal Postal Services) Order 2019


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 12th April, 2019.

The Commission for Communications Regulation, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 16 (3)(a) of the Communications Regulation (Postal Services) Act 2011 (No. 21 of 2011) hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Communications Regulation (Universal Postal Services) Order 2019.

2. A weight of 10 kilograms is specified in lieu of the weight specified in subsection 16 (2)(b) of the Communications Regulation (Postal Services) Act 2011 .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Order provides for a weight of 10 kilograms in lieu of the weight of 20 kilograms specified in subsection 16 (2)(b) of the Communications Regulation (Postal Services) Act 2011 . This reduces the maximum weight of parcels for which the service of clearance, sorting, transport and distribution is included in the universal postal service.

The Commission for Communications Regulation makes this order following a public consultation process and having regard to the reasonable needs of postal service users.
