I, EAMON RYAN, Minister for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection 44GA of the National Oil Reserves Agency Act 2007 (No. 7 of 2007), with the consent of the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Public Expenditure, Development Plan Delivery and Reform, hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the National Oil Reserves Agency Act 2007 (Minimum Percentage Volume of Renewable Transport Fuel in Petrol) Regulations 2023. | ||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of July 2023. | ||
2. 5.5% is prescribed as the minimum percentage volume of the renewable transport fuel known as ethanol which shall be required to be included in petrol so that petrol may be disposed of by sale or otherwise in the State by a renewable transport fuel obligation account holder. | ||
The Minister for Finance consents to the making of the foregoing Regulations. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||
(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation) | ||
These Regulations specify the minimum volume of ethanol to be blended with petrol placed on the market by sale or otherwise in the State by renewable transport fuel obligation account holders. The minimum percentage volume of ethanol is specified as 5.5%. | ||
[For the purpose of these Regulations, ethanol included in petrol placed on the market by sale or otherwise in the State must fall within the meaning of “renewable transport fuel” set out at section 44A of the National Oil Reserves Agency Act 2007 .] |
