I, DARRAGH O’BRIEN, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 5 and 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1979 (No. 27 of 1979) (as adapted by the Housing, Planning and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2020 (S. I. No. 408 of 2020)) and the Finance (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2015 (S. I. No. 318 of 2015) as adapted by the Public Expenditure and Reform (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2023 (S. I. No. 19 of 2023)), with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform, hereby make the following regulations: | ||
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Housing (Adaptation Grants for Older People and People with Disability) (Fixed Track Hoists) Regulations 2023. | ||
(2) These Regulations come into operation on 17 July 2023. | ||
2. (1) Grants paid by a local authority under Articles 5 and 7 of the Housing (Adaptation Grants for Older People and People with a Disability) Regulations 2007 (S. I. No. 670 of 2007) may include a grant in respect of the costs of purchasing and installing a fixed track hoist. | ||
(2) In this Regulation “fixed track hoist” means a ceiling or wall mounted track which supports a mechanically moveable sling to lift and move a member of the household, with an enduring physical impairment, to whom the grant relates. | ||
The Minister for Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform consents to the making of the foregoing Regulations | ||

These Regulations amend the Housing (Adaptation Grants for Older People and People with a Disability) Regulations 2007 to bring fixed track hoists within the scope of the Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability scheme and Mobility Aids Grant scheme. |
