DISABLED PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1960 DISABLED PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1960 - LONG TITLE An Act to amend the law relating to disabled persons as regards the minimum age for attendance at certain courses under the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act (Northern Ireland), 1945, as regards registration under that Act, as regards the class of disabled ex-service women to whom preference is to be given under section sixteen of that Act and as regards the provision by local authorities of employment or other work under special conditions. [21st June 1960] S.1 amends ss.2,3 of 1945 c.6 (NI) DISABLED PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1960 - SECT 2 Amendments as to registration. 2. Subs.(1) amends s.7 of 1945 c.6 (NI) (2) Notwithstanding anything in section eight of the principal Act, a person registered as handicapped by disablement shall be entitled to have his name removed from the register on making a written application to the Ministry of Labour and National Insurance for it to be removed. S.3 rep. by 1972 NI 14 art.109(3) sch.18 DISABLED PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1960 - SECT 4 Preference for ex-service women in selection for vocational training and industrial rehabilitation courses and for possible employment. 4.(1) The Ministry of Labour and National Insurance shall so exercise its discretion under section sixteen of the principal Act in selecting persons for vocational training and industrial rehabilitation courses and facilities under section fifteen of that Act and in selecting persons registered as handicapped by disablement with a view to submitting their names for engagements, so as to secure that, so far as consistent with the efficient exercise of its powers, preference shall be given, in addition to the persons at present specified in paragraphs (a) and (b) of the said section sixteen, to women who have served whole time in any force raised or maintained under the Army and Air Force (Women's Service) Act, 1948. Subs.(2) amends s.16 of 1945 c.6 (NI) Interpretation. DISABLED PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1960 - SECT 6 6. In this Act "the principal Act" means the Disabled Persons (Employment) Act (Northern Ireland), 1945; Definition rep. by 1972 NI 14 art.109(3) sch.18 DISABLED PERSONS (EMPLOYMENT) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND) 1960 - SECT 7 Short title. 7.
