1949 - LONG TITLE

An Act to amend the law relating to the marriage of a person with
his or her nephew or niece by marriage.

MARRIAGE (PROHIBITED DEGREES OF RELATIONSHIP) ACT (NORTHERN IRELAND)
1949 - SECT 1

1.Subs. (1)(2) amend ss.1,4 of 1907 c.47; subs.(3) amends s.2 of,
and sch. to, 1944 c.7 (NI)

(4) The principal Act shall, so far as it relates to marriages
authorised by this Act, have effect as though it had been passed
on the date of the passing of this Act.

Short title, etc.

3.(1) This Act may be cited as the Marriage (Prohibited Degrees of
Relationship) Act (Northern Ireland), 1949, and this Act and the
Marriage (Prohibited Degrees of Relationship) Acts (Northern Ireland),
1907 to 1924, may be cited together as the Marriage (Prohibited
Degrees of Relationship) Acts (Northern Ireland), 1907 to 1949.

(2) References in this Act to the principal Act shall be construed
as references to that Act as amended by the Deceased Brother's
Widow's Marriage Act, 1921 (as applied to Northern Ireland by the
Deceased Brother's Widow's Marriage Act (Northern Ireland), 1924), and
this Act shall be construed as one with those Acts.

(3) In this Act the expression "enactment" includes an enactment of
the Parliament of the United Kingdom...
