Acquisition, disposal and occupation of land by the Police Authority. 4.(1) Subsections (2) to (5) of this section and section 5 shall have effect with respect to the powers of the Police Authority under section 19 of the Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954 to acquire, hold and dispose of real or personal property. (2) The powers of the Police Authority to acquire and dispose of land shall not be exercised without the consent of the Ministry which may be given either generally or in particular cases or descriptions of case or subject to specified conditions; and the Authority's power to acquire land shall include power to acquire it compulsorily in accordance with the provisions of subsections (3) and (4). (3) Where the Police Authority propose to acquire any land compulsorily they may apply to the Ministry for an order vesting that land in them and the Ministry shall have power to make such an order. (4) Section 22(2) of, and Schedule 2 to, the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1934 shall, subject to the modifications thereof specified in Schedule 2, have effect in relation to a vesting order made under subsection (3) as they have effect in relation to a vesting order made under that Act. (5) The Police Authority, with the consent of the Ministry, may provide and maintain such buildings, structures and premises, and make such alterations in any buildings, structures and premises already provided, as they may consider necessary for police purposes or for the purposes of their functions under this Act.
