Appointment of other members of the RUC. 8. The power to appoint or promote any person to any rank in the Royal Ulster Constabulary other than that of a senior officer shall, as from the appointed day, be exercisable by the Inspector General subject to and in accordance with regulations made under section 25, and members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary who, immediately before that day, held a rank other than that of a senior officer shall be deemed to have been appointed or promoted by the Inspector General under this section.
