Weekly half-holiday. 18.(1) Subject to the provisions of this Part of this Act regarding the employment of young persons, a person employed in or about the business of a shop shall not, on at least one week day in each week, be so employed after half-past one o'clock in the afternoon. (2) The occupier of the shop shall fix, and shall specify in a notice in the prescribed form, which must be exhibited in any manner which may be prescribed and be readily available to all persons employed in or about the business of the shop and produced on demand to such persons and to any inspector appointed by a [district council] for the purposes of this Act, the day of the week on which such persons are not employed after half-past one o'clock and may fix different days for different persons. (3) Where the occupier of a shop to which any order made under section three of this Act (which relates to holiday resorts) is in force satisfies the [district council] that it is his practice to allow, and that he will allow, all persons employed in or about the business of the shop a holiday on full pay of not less than two weeks in addition to statutory holidays in every year, this section shall not apply during the period or periods for which that order is in force.
