POLICE
The Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2003 (Commencement No.3) Order 2007
This Order is made in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 15(6), 16(2) and 19(2) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2003[1] and section 27(6) of the Northern Ireland (St Andrews Agreement) Act 2006[2].
A draft of this Order has been laid before Parliament in accordance with section 44(3) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2003 and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
Accordingly, the Secretary of State makes the following Order:
1.
This Order may be cited as the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2003 (Commencement No.3) Order 2007.
2.
The following provisions of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2003 shall come into force on 4th September 2007—
(a) section 15(1) to (5) (independent members of district policing partnerships: declaration against terrorism);
(b) section 16(1) (independent members of district policing partnerships: disqualification);
(c) section 19(1) and Schedule 1 (district policing partnerships: Belfast).
3.
The following provisions (which, by virtue of section 27(6) of the Northern Ireland (St Andrews Agreement) Act 2006, are to come into force in accordance with provision made by an order under section 19(2) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2003) shall come into force on 4th September 2007—
(a) section 20(2) of the Northern Ireland (St Andrews Agreement) Act 2006 (district policing partnerships: Belfast sub-groups);
(b) Schedule 9 to that Act (district policing partnerships: Belfast sub-groups).

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Commencement Order brings into force on 4th September 2007 provisions in the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2003 dealing with district policing partnerships.
It brings into force section 15 of that Act, which requires independent members of district policing partnerships to make a declaration against terrorism.
It brings into force section 16 of that Act, which makes provision about disqualification for membership of district policing partnerships.
It brings into force section 19 of, and Schedule 1 to, that Act, which make provision about Belfast. Schedule 1 was amended by the Northern Ireland (St Andrews Agreement) Act 2006. Those amendments are also brought into force by this Order.
