The Foyle, Carlingford and Irish Lights Commission, with the approval of the North/South Ministerial Council, makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 13(1) of the Foyle Fisheries Act 1952(1) (as amended by section 34(3) of the British-Irish Agreement Act 1999(a)) and section 13(1) of the Foyle Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1952(2) and now vested in it(3).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Foyle Area and Carlingford Area (Prohibition of Sale of Salmon and Sea Trout Caught by Rod and Line) Regulations 2008 and shall come into operation on 31st July 2008.
2. In these Regulations –
"salmon" means a fish of the species Salmo Salar (Atlantic Salmon);
"sea trout" means a fish of the migratory form of Salmo Trutta.
3. A person shall not sell or offer for sale within the Foyle Area or the Carlingford Area salmon or sea trout caught by rod and line.
