Fisheries (Amendment) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2008

The Fisheries Conservancy Board for Northern Ireland, makes the following Byelaws, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 26(1) of the Fisheries Act (Northern Ireland) 1966(1), and with the approval of the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure(2):

Citation and commencement

1. These Byelaws may be cited as the Fisheries (Amendment) Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2008 and shall come into operation on 15th September 2008.

Amendment of the Fisheries Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2003

2. The Fisheries Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2003(3) shall be amended as provided in Byelaw 3.

Restrictions on numbers of pike to be taken by angling

3. In Byelaw 72(a), for "2" substitute "1".

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Byelaws)

These Byelaws amend the Fisheries Byelaws (Northern Ireland) 2003.

The Byelaws now require any person who takes a pike in excess of one on any day whilst angling, to return it immediately to the water from which it was taken without avoidable injury (Byelaw 3).
