The Department of Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25 and 26 of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998(1), makes the following Regulations. Those powers are now vested in the Department(2).
The Department has taken into consideration the recommendations made by the Police Negotiating Board for the United Kingdom and supplied the Board with a draft of the Regulations in accordance with section 62(1ZA) of the Police Act 1996(3).
The Department has consulted the Northern Ireland Policing Board and the Police Association in accordance with section 26(6) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998.
The Department of Finance and Personnel has consented to the making of these Regulations in accordance with section 72(2A) of the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 1998(4).
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Full-Time) (Amendment) Regulations 2011 and shall come into operation on 24th March 2011.
2.-(1) The Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve (Full-Time) (Appointment and Conditions of Service) Regulations 1996(5) shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In regulation 2(1) in the definition of "public holiday" insert "29th April 2011," after "St Patrick's Day,".
3.-(1) The Police Service of Northern Ireland Regulations 2005(6) shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In regulation 3(1) in paragraph (a) of the definition of "public holiday" insert "29th April 2011," after "St Patrick's Day,".
4.-(1) The Police Service of Northern and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006(7) shall be amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In Schedule 1 in paragraph (a) of the definition of "public holiday" insert "29th April 2011," after "St Patrick's Day,".

These Regulations amend the Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve (Full-Time) (Appointment and Conditions of Service) Regulations 1996 and the Police Service of Northern Ireland Regulations 2005 to allow for an extra day of leave to members of the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Full-Time) on 29th April 2011, to mark the Royal Wedding. These Regulations also amend the definition of "public holiday" in the Police Service of Northern Ireland and Police Service of Northern Ireland Reserve (Injury Benefit) Regulations 2006.
1998 c.32. Relevant amendments are made by section 78(1) of and paragraph 23 of Schedule 6 to the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000.
Article 5 of and paragraphs 9 and 10 of Schedule 3 to the Northern Ireland Act 1998 (Devolution of Policing and Justice Functions) Order (S.I. 2010/976) transferred the regulation making powers of the Secretary of State to the Department of Justice.
1996 c.16 Section 62(1ZA) was inserted by article 5 of and paragraph 7(3) of Schedule 3 to S.I. 2010/976.
This subsection was inserted by section 78(1) of and paragraph 23 of Schedule 6 to the Police (Northern Ireland) Act 2000. The consent function is now vested in the Department of Finance and Personnel by virtue of article 5 of and paragraph 38 of Schedule 3 to S.I. 2010/976.
