The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(2) and (3) of the Scottish Qualifications Authority Act 2002[1] hereby make the following Order: Citation 1. This Order may be cited as the Scottish Qualifications Authority Act 2002 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2002. Interpretation 2. In this Order, "the Act" means the Scottish Qualifications Authority Act 2002. Commencement of provisions 3. - (1) Sections 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Act shall come into force on 7th August 2002. (2) Section 1 of the Act, with the exception of section 1(7)(b), shall come into force on 19th August 2002. NICOL STEPHEN Authorised to sign by the Scottish Ministers St Andrew's House, Edinburgh 26th July 2002 EXPLANATORY NOTE (This note is not part of the Order) The Scottish Qualifications Authority Act 2002 ("the Act") received Royal Assent on 6th June 2002. Section 6 came into force on Royal Assent. This Order brings into force the remaining provisions of the Act, with the exception of section 1(7)(b) (relating to repeal of paragraphs 9(2) and 9(3) of Schedule 1 to the Education (Scotland) Act 1996, which make provision for the payment of pension, and compensation, to the chairman of the Scottish Qualifications Authority). It brings into force sections 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the Act on 7th August 2002, and section 1 (excepting section 1(7)(b)) on 19th August 2002. [1] 2002 asp 14.back
