The Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 (Commencement No. 15) Order 2004

  Made 8th September 2004 

The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 75(2) of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990[1], and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

Citation
     1. This Order may be cited as the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 (Commencement No. 15) Order 2004.

Appointed day
    
2. Section 32 (multi-national practices) of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990 shall, in so far as it is not then in force[2], come into force on 1st October 2004.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)


This Order brings into force on 1st October 2004 section 32 of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Scotland) Act 1990, in so far as it is not already in force. Section 32 inserts a new section 60A into the Solicitors (Scotland) Act 1980, which makes provisions for multi-national legal practices. It was brought into force on 17th March 1993 but only in respect of provisions relating to the making of rules and orders in section 60A(2), (3) and (5) to (8).
